(December 25, 1931 – September 7, 2021)
A true pioneer. Laylan began recruiting exclusively for the travel industry in 1982, when there were little to no recruiting agencies that specialized in finding qualified travel agents for corporate clients. His tenure of 12 years with American Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines gave him the leverage to know true talent in the space he knew so well. His passion for airplanes extended from his professional life into his personal life, as he spent his leisure time sports flying from Arlington Airport. He would fly every chance he got, up until a few months ago. There was no stopping him! But he was also passionate about singing with his granddaughter and in the church choir.
Laylan was a young, vivacious spirit, living in an older man’s body. Everyone who spoke to him felt like they’d known him for years. He made a difference in so many lives, finding jobs for travel professionals. He worked tirelessly and didn’t quit until he got an answer from his clients. Laylan spent countless hours advising and mentoring the Travel Staff Recruiters and we owe a great deal of gratitude for his wisdom, guidance and friendship.
